Uganda’s president congratulates Cranes for qualifying for AFCON25

President Yoweri Museveni has sent out heart congratulations to national football team, Uganda Cranes, upon qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 edition.

President Yoweri Museveni has sent out heart congratulations to national football team, Uganda Cranes, upon qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 edition.

His message came Wednesday, a day after the Cranes beat Congo Brazzaville in the final game of the qualifying matches which maintained them in the second position of Group K, below South Africa.

The lone winning goal against hosts Congo was scored by Mutyaba.

Below is the President’s full message.

“I congratulate the Uganda Cranes on qualifying for AFCON.

Uganda has qualified for the third time in the last eight years of the biannual competition.

I congratulate the players, coaches, FUFA, the Ministry of Education and Sports, and all fellow Ugandans.

The government has already committed a lot of resources to construct and rehabilitate the sports infrastructure and we will continue to do so.”
