Uganda Airlines Expands Reach with New Flights to Harare and Lusaka

Uganda Airlines has officially launched its scheduled services to Harare, Zimbabwe, and Lusaka, Zambia, enhancing connectivity between East Africa and Southern Africa.

Entebbe, Uganda – September 25, 2024 – Uganda Airlines has officially launched its scheduled services to Harare, Zimbabwe, and Lusaka, Zambia, enhancing connectivity between East Africa and Southern Africa. Beginning today, the airline will operate flights to these capitals four times a week, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to providing affordable and reliable air travel across the continent.

“We are happy to return to the capitals of Zambia and Zimbabwe, countries whose history and culture are closely linked to Uganda,” stated Ms. Jenifer Bamuturaki, Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Airlines. “These new routes not only expand travel options but also connect our passengers with diverse destinations across Africa and beyond.”

The newly inaugurated flights, operated with Uganda Airlines’ fleet of CRJ 900-LRs—recognized as the youngest aircraft fleet in Africa by Ch-Aviation—are designed to streamline travel between Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. This service significantly reduces travel times, eliminating lengthy layovers and cutting the journey by over six hours compared to existing options.

Passengers can expect a seamless travel experience whether their final destination is within Uganda or further afield. “These flights cater to both travelers terminating their journeys in Uganda and those continuing to other popular destinations in our network, including Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, and even long-haul cities like Dubai and Mumbai,” Ms. Bamuturaki added.

The inaugural flight, UR 720, departed Entebbe at 10:00 AM and is scheduled to arrive in Lusaka at 11:45 AM. It will continue to Harare, with a return trip ensuring convenient connections for travelers arriving back in Entebbe at 6:15 PM.

With the addition of Lusaka and Harare, Uganda Airlines now serves a total of 16 destinations, completing its initial route expansion and paving the way for future growth beyond Africa.

Founded in 2019, Uganda Airlines is the nation’s flagship carrier, providing scheduled passenger and cargo services throughout East Africa and nearby international markets. The airline has received multiple accolades for its fleet, including the World’s Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award for five consecutive years from 2020 to 2024.

As Uganda Airlines embarks on this exciting new chapter, it remains dedicated to enhancing travel across the continent, promoting tourism, and fostering economic ties between nations.
